Dr Vinicius Carraro do Nascimento

Dr Vinicius Carraro do Nascimento is an Interventional Radiologist and Interventional Neuroradiologist at Gold Coast University Hospital. In 2010, he completed his medical studies at the Federal University Foundation of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, Brazil, before moving to Australia to train as a diagnostic and interventional radiologist.

After becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2019, Dr Carraro relocated to New Zealand, where he completed a one-year fellowship in interventional radiology. From May 2020 to May 2022, he completed an additional fellowship in interventional neuroradiology at Gold Coast University Hospital, where he now works as a consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist.

Dr Vinicius's main clinical interests are acute stroke and intracranial aneurysm treatment. He has a particular interest in CSF leaks and serves on the Spinal CSF Leak Australia medical advisory board. He regularly reviews several journals, including the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery and Neuroradiology.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Vinicius is actively involved in teaching and research in the field of interventional neuroradiology, with a particular focus on stroke and aneurysm treatment. He provides tutorials for radiology registrars and consultants and is a presenter for Lightbox Radiology.
